I even replaced the video card with the same issue. I have replaced the HDMI cable twice and it still happens.
What happens after waking from sleep the monitor loses signal from the card every minute I have three 4k Monitors, all connected via DisplayPort.
When everything is connected and I start my PC, I'm getting a black screen on all of them. If only two are connected before starting I recently set out to complete my first full build using all of the hardware from the Buyer's Guide. I have everything working successfully Catalina I have to say, that I had those issues already with Anyways: 1 After locking my screen not going standby yet and relogin to my account, I Update goes partway then black screen after timeout Attempted to update from I tried this a few months ago and was never able to figure out the problem, ended up having to restore from CCC and stay put on I am quite inexperienced with the technicalJoin us now!

BenQ says that the cable fits DP 1. HDMI 2. I read a lot about problems with DP on GeForce and but did'nt find a solution.
SSC Member. I think you might have added an extra 0 in your model description. Issue you have is strictly your monitor, trust me on that one. Anyways after RMA no change, same thing. Bottom line is, its not your GPU, aperantly in that particular monitor there is capacitor that overheats and causes black screens, if that's true I don't know on top of that there is a issue with DP on that monitor. You're right with the model description Uh oh, that does'nt sounds good Yes, If they are out of ideas on how to help, they might not response for days and then when they do, at least with me, they will say " we have been in contact with our headquarter office and trying to figure out this problem" something in that line.
There was a time that I would get disconnections and no signal on daily bases but after RMA I have been told by someone else who had the exact problem with this exact monitor to disconnect the monitor from power source and the display port cable from the monitor and leave it like that for min, then plug everything back on and reboot PC, that worked for him and some other guys.
If you decide to RMA, by then maybe they will find fix for this, never know.Having recently went through the process of updating a handful of Macs to the latest versions of Mac OS X as part of a gifting tech support campaignseveral Macs developed an odd flickering display problem that was only visible when an external monitor was connected to the Mac.
Meanwhile on a newer MacBook Pro, the problem exhibited as external display flickering with anything from DVI connections to HDMI, and with different brand monitors, but the screen would display properly just with a persistent randomized flicker.
The video below demonstrates the MacBook Air flickering on and off with a noisy picture:.
Because each of the Macs behaved perfectly normal with external displays prior to the Mac OS X update, and the problem spans between two totally different Macs and with different connection types and even monitor brands, this suggests something went awry during the upgrade process.
Fortunately, a simple SMC reset resolved the problem completely on both Macs, and external displays again worked as they should post-SMC reset. You can find details for SMC resets on other Macs hereand Apple has directions for other machines here too.Oil rig frequency rust
Everything should be working as usual, no more monitor screen flickering, no more noisy screen displays, just the Mac with a normal looking external display. Beyond display issues, resetting the System Management Controller can also resolve many other problems related to power management and hardware, both that have occurred post system updates or seemingly at random.
If you or anyone you know happens to run into the screen flicker issue after an Mac OS X update applied to a Mac, try this SMC fix first, it only takes a moment and resolved the problem quickly in these cases, and just may work for you too. Enjoy this tip?

Face Palm Smack. If you continue to have screen flickering issues you might want to try that out. Also, some of the series of Mac laptops in particular sometimes flicker because of a custom screen calibration, you can read more about that here:.
My problem was my cable I have a vga to dvi-d cable that then connects to my apple dvi-d to mini displayport adaptor. When I swapped out the cable for a standard dvi-d to dvi-d cable it worked. Drove me potty.Sonicwall netextender preparing
Only when I got yet another UHD monitor in another location, without the ability to return it and it was pricey did I have to find a solution. SMC reset bollocks.
HDMI cable swap bollocks. All bollocks. Works perfectly now. Apple has a serious problem here and they know! Not only did this fix the external monitor flickering, but it also fixed the mouse and keyboard sticking. Thank you so much for this.In my office, I am using an external monitor as my main screen for my MacBook Pro. Thanks for the feedback. I have the same issue and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the monitor.
There are enough reports out there that there is clearly a bug in the thunderbolt 2 to digital display output that can creep up on people. The thunderbolt ports work enough that I ethernet and vga work…super frustrating.
Which MacBook do you have? Could it be you have a MacBook that has gotten rather hot when this problem occurs? Maybe you even have a rather old MacBook that has a swollen battery that is pressing onto internal components like the touchpad so severely that they start malfunctioning? Thread starter igorkulman Start date May 4, I bought a 4K display. The problem is that when I have the display connected using DisplaPort, Clover shows, the Apple logo shows and then in maybe half of the loading process the screen turns black saying "no signal". OS X sometimes doesn't like DP 1. I'd also try to use your 2nd screen to access the display settings of your 4K monitor.
I booted into Windows and disabled DP 1. I then rebooted to macOS and the result was the same, "no signal" no the 4k display. Btw I think disbaling DP 1.
DisplayPort and black screen
Yes, toggling DP1. I remember this once helped me. How do I check? Also attaching my Clover config. The DP1. You should not have to boot into Windows to change it. I changed in in the monitor menu as I said. The fact that it did it booted in Windows should note matter. I understand that Sierra does not activate the second display until login. Test to change a DP After login The difference is that in my case I get 60 Mhz with the two connections but I would like to leave the DP as main not vice versa.

Changing screen resolution doesn't help. I've browsed many similar questions on the internet, unfortunately most of them suggest upgrading the OS. I'm using Mac OSX What should I do? I had the same problem, and I think I found what causes the problem. My macbook air was detecting the display, but only thing I saw was black screen.
For more information check a blog post of mine. Other posts suggesting it is something to do with the PRAM, but I've not seen the problem being on the Mac end of things. As this problem is persistent, so it seems I will have to reset the monitor each time so it recovers from the failure, but doesn't seem to address the root cause so I have yet to find a more permanent fix.
The display worked before. Then without reason it gone black and didn't wanted to show anything. DisplayManager from Mac showed the displays without problem and I could change all settings - for no difference. After that it worked again. And could connect the other cables again aswell. I have 3 external displays connected and use the internal one aswell.
This most likely means the Mac is outputting a video mode that the screen can't display. A good starting point would be x or even x Same problem here. Using dell x monitor connected to RMBP in clamshell mode with nvidia card. I can change the res. But external stays black all the way. Log out and log in again does not help. Rebooting the RMBP helps right away.
No need to mess with the monitor or cables. This is purely a software problem in the RMBP. I had a black screen for quite some minutes now and I found out that the monitor, even though it is brand new, does not automatically switch to the active input channel. So choosing the input channel manually on the monitor fixed the problem for me.
The screen flashed and I got image.
